John Higginbotham Jr. to Norvell & King - October 21, 1793

 

This Indenture made the twenty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three between John Higginbotham Jr. of Amherst County of the one part and Reuben Norvell and Sackville King, merchants and partners trading under the firm of Norvell and King of the other part. Witnesseth that for an in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds good and lawful money of Virginia to the said John Higginbotham Jr. in hand paid by the said Norvell and King the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents grants bargains and sell unto the said Norvell and King one certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less lying and being in the County of Amherst on the south branch of Porrage Creek and bounded as followeth (to wit). Beginning at pointers corned to James Dillard survey and with his lines north fifty five degrees west one hundred poles crossing a branch to pointers, north twenty nine degrees east one hundred and twenty four poles crossing two branches to pointers the same course continued on a new line thirty six poles to pointers, south fifty five degrees east one hundred poles crossing a branch to a pine and south twenty nine degrees west one hundred and sixty poles to the first station all of which will more fully and at large appear by a Deed Patent to the said John Higginbotham Jr. bearing date the 12th day of April 1793 reference being thereto had which the appurtenances. To have and to hold unto the said Norvell and King their heirs and assigns forever and the said John Higginbotham Jr. his heirs executors and administrators the said tract or parcel of land and all and singular the appurtenances will warrant and forever defend against the lawful claim of every person or persons whatsoever. In witness where of he hath hereon to set his hand and affix his seal the date above written.
