William Henry Higginbotham (1899-1953) WV/NH
Norwich - William Henry Higginbotham, 63, died yesterday at the Veterans Hospital in White River Junction, where he had been a patient since January. He was born Sept. 21, 1889, in West Virginia.
He had been a resident of Norwich since 1922 when he and his wife, the former Henrietta Sargent of Norwich, made their home on Mrs. Higginbotham's family farm. They were married in 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio, after meeting at Camp Hancock in Augusta, Ga., where Mrs. Higginbotham served as an Army nurse during World War I. They lived in Cleveland and Chicago, where Mr. Higginbotham was a contract carpenter, until they came here. Mrs. Higginbotham survives her husband.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and charter member and past commander of both Lyman F. Pell and Hartford Posts, American Legion of Norwich and Hartford.
The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in St. Barnabas' Church here by the Rev. Leslie W. Hodder of Hanover. There will be a military service under the direction of the Norwich and Hartford Legion posts. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Rand Funeral Home today from3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Henrietta Sargent Higginbotham (1881-1970) VT
Norwich - Henrietta Higginbotham, 88, a native of Norwich, died Tuesday at the Alice PeckDay Convalescent Unit in Lebanon following a long illness.
She was born April 21, 1881, the daughter of Bartlett and Dora (Illsey) Sargent. She was a graduate of nnursing of the Milford (Conn.) Hospital and served as an Army nurse during World War I.
She returned to Norwich and for 27 years served as nurse for the Hanover school system.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Andrew Williams of Topsfield, Mass.; and a nephew, Lawrence Sargent of North Haven, Conn.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church here. Burial will follow in the New Boston Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Rand Funeral Home of Hanover is in charge of arrangements.
