Lettie Higginbotham & D. Howard Payne

Pretty Wedding

The home of Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Higginbotham, in South Bluefield, was the scene of a pretty wedding last evening, when their niece, Miss Lettie Higginbotham, was married to D. Howard Payne, of Newport, Giles County, Va.

As the strains of the wedding march filled the rooms, the happy couple descended the stairway, preceded by Miss Ruth Higginbotham as flour girl, and entering the parlor were met by Rev J A Baylor, who, according to the ritual of his church, united them in holy wedlock.

The bride was handsomely attired in a costume of cream secillian lustre, with antique lace trimming, and wore a veil with orange blossoms.

After the ceremony the wedding party repaired to the dining room, which was handsomely decorated with palms and ferns, and partook of most elegant refreshments.

Only a few immediate relatives and intimate friends of the contracting parties were present.
